The NeXus Skin Conductance Sensor provides information about sweat gland activity on the hand. Sweat gland activity is closely correlated with sympathetic nervous system activity, arousal and stress. This variable is called SCA (Skin Conductance Activity), EDA (ElectroDermal Activity), or the more classic term GSR (Galvanic Skin Response).

 
Skin conductance (SC) is expressed in micro-siemens or micro-mho and increases when the arousal level increases. During relaxation, the SC level normally decreases. The Skin Conductance sensor has been designed to measure minuscule (1/1000 micro-siemens) relative changes in skin conductance.
 
The NeXus GSR sensor requires Ag-AgCL electrodes (which are included) that snap into the two connectors. The electrodes are usually attached to two fingers or two sites on the palm. The electrodes are secured by velcro straps. Make sure they are not fastened too tight since that will impair blood flow. It does not matter which electrodes is placed on which finger, as polarity is not important.
